3 reasons:
1. The work - when I came here the work I was interested in wasnt being done back home.
2. The work culture - working under most desi managers is a pain in the backside and really stifling for me.
3. Continuity - set up life here, got married, had my son. Its hard to just pull the plug and walk back.
GC is just the means, not the end.

Since it passed during the special session, everything had to be cleared out of the Congress quickly, I guess. USCIS must be busy to get ready for processing and collecting increased fees from these employers soon. The new filing fees will be a huge amount, especially when they decide to file a premium processing request. Can you imagine how much these employers will lose for a single case if the case is filed on premium and denied!! Ouch!

They are working overtime for it, hopefully 24 hours as well. This is my fear even before this announcement that visa numbers be wasted again.
Maybe we can volunteer to adjudicate each of our own case...lol!
When I was a kid in school the teacher solved the bottleneck (of him/her doing the correction of tests) by having the students mark each others tests.
I'd be happy to adjudicate your case JunRN, if you'd adjudicate mine; heck, I'd even let you use your "current" Bank of America visa in place of a DOS visa :-)

Cases are being pre-adjucated, So there are RFEs and other inquiries...After this, they will wait for visa number in PD Queue....which is a good thing...This assures there will be no wastage this year....

As much as I appreciate the efforts that the IV core team has put in, them being so secretive, it is almost like they have formed a cabal.
I agree with ItIsNotFunny. The very least the IV core team can do is post updates on what they are up to. That way if someone believes in a particular initiative that IV is undertaking wants to help, they can contact the concerned IV core team member and offer to help.
I am sure instead of the core team trying to burden themselves with all the work, if they let individuals who believe in particular cause to help them, then life would be a lot easier for everyone. I guess that would also get more people involved with IV.
I know I am out of the rat race, so if you think I am being patronizing, my apologies.

I talked to my lawyer and she says I can travel without AP as long as H visa is stamped. I just found Press Release on same topic from USCIS. Here is the link

My wife is already in India; and I am going to follow her soon and we will be going to get our visa stamped.
I hope this reduces some frustration.
I don't think that was an issue ever. Also keep in mind the new PIM process which is now part of visa stamping might delay things if you go to get a visa stamped

A few lucky people from the July filers will get their green cards from this, but most may have to wait a while. They have not processed many of them.
If that is the case, why is there a big movement? I am assuming that the Jul 07 backlog has been significantly reduced and hence this big movement. Correct me if my assumption is wrong.
