Please change these security lapses thing. You might be hurting yourselves in the long run. If You are thinking that this is not a big issue in DOS/USCIS, You are mistaken. This is a hot button issue in both agencies. Focus on quality of life issues and other losses incurred. Do not play with security. Its going to come back and hurt us. I think this is a really complex issue. We go thru a lot of thoughts now and then.
When I think rationally this is what I am concerned about:
1. Social isolation from family (brother/sisters/extended family) in the long run.
2. Inability to support aging parents.... *sigh*
GC Cons:
1.You cannot enjoy the company of your parents/relatives.
2.Your wife cannot work.
GC Pros:
1.You and your family will be raised in a pollution free environment.
2.God forbid,if you ever get into an accident the cop would at least write down a complaint.If there is an emergency there would be an ambulance.My father had to go through this unfortunate experience.
3.In India, given the real estate boom , anyone who has land in cities like Mumbai /Pune would rather build a mall or residential complex instead of Schools/Colleges.People are getting jobs now. Have they wondered where their kids will go to school/college? When it comes to getting jobs in India, everyone wants a candidate from a reputed college / university which is usually associated with the number of years the place has been around.
4.If you want to settle outside cities, then you do not have access to the best in education and whatever so called infrastructure is there to offer.
5.Back home, if your kid does not grow up to become a Doctor or Engineer he/she goes so much down in the social hierarchy that it is difficult to imagine.Only careers available are Doctors/Engineers.Last option is to join call center and live a nocturnal life.

6.The job hierarchies in India are mostly namesake , at least in IT. The moral compass of Indian corporate world is pointing directly,constantly, and unerringly to hell. You will notice a "Sir-jee" system very soon after you start working there.
7.On a last note, with a surge in purchasing power it is immature to declare India a developing/developed nation so soon. That tile is at least 500 years away and we have not started making the ground work yet(the Chinese have).

I can understand rejecting loans for H1 since it is supposed to be temporary employment, but it does not make sense to reject for people on EAD.
I am in the process of refinancing, but I provided my H1 papers instead of EAD and my application was approved.
It is possible each company has a different policy. I went through Wells Fargo this time.

I dont want to go a step back in the line just cuz someone who had been lethargic all his life just woke up on his last day of his 6th year and goes "Ohh you know what I think I might be interested in a GC" ,when I had planned or had the *intent* to apply for a GC a few years before by applying for LC.
I agree. Also it will be a MONUMENTAL fiasco at the UCSIS and DOL. How do we forsee changing existing applicants' PDs. That will be atleast a 4-6 month backlog and i am being optimistic here.

No dear friend...what if you are already inside this country and waiting for 10 years. Even if you become a manager in these companies, you wont be eligible as you had to have at least one year outside the country. So progressing not going to help. How about a person who is less qualified, less experienced getting GC in six months when you wait for 5-10 years. Its not about jealous, its about fairness and justice. Dont bring in EB2-EB3 here. We are all in this sh*&t togather.
At the end of the day what matters is you have an option open via this route. It is your personal choice if you would rather wait here 10 years or work in your home country for 1 year. Why shut a door that's meant for you? Opportunity is very hard to come by

With my taxes I pay for (example) roads, police, courts, public TV and so on. And I use what I pay for (another nice example is when the police paid by me catches me with high speed and fines me :-)
SS and Medicare are future services which I would not use while I am on H1/L1 or if I do not get permanent residence by some reason. This is my money which the US government has compulsory taken from me and I have not used it. So, I have the right to get this money back and use it for my eventual retirement in another country.
We do not change the law of the land to benefit us, we just do not want to be cheated and treated like retarded.
The real ridiculous stuff is the way the government agencies are treating the legal immigrants but nobody in the "great" country care to notice that, especially the law-makers.

Legal immigration. The issues of legal immigrants have been ignored and been buried in the midst of illegal immigration controversies. I too am on H4.Same thing happened to both my husband and myself here last October.We had moved recently from Indiana and the DMV said they won't issue new licenses for both myself and my husband (it doesn't matter if u r on H1 or H4)until we give the extended I94. We had our Indiana licences also canceled .We didn't know what to do and then we enquired some of our friends and came to know that if we show our original USCIS Receipts for Extension filed they give ur license for 6 months from the USCIS Receipt Date. So we did that and got our extension until April. U have to show the Original Receipt ,No Xerox .And now we got our extension papers and reapplied for a new license and got it. May be u too can enquire about this,because I think all DMVs tend to follow similar rules.

I think I am in a similar situation with you.Me and my kids are also separated from my wife for almost a year now. It was really a big mistake on my part not to join her on her Embassy interview thinking visas were plentiful.BIG MISTAKE. I was at that time not well informed about visa availability.Our PD is Nov 05 and I am from the Philippines. I do feel what you feel. It is an emotional roller coaster ride. Are you derivative beneficiaries of your wife's Sched A petition and what country are you from? If you dont mind me asking.
