no. of h1b issued in last 4 years 65kX4= 260k
even if you double that (which i m sure is not the case), still it come to 500k.
so ure over estimating it.

Applied for AP - Aug.16 with NSC
The funny thing is,that as with EAD card,in a day after I subscribed for e-mail update with USCIS they send me e-mail that my AP and family members have been mailed.
LUD on AP Jan 23. AP on hand Jan.28.

I am out of state visa screened nurse after having a hard time passing the cgfns and other reqirment my sponser has filed me I-140 on 31th april 2007, I dont know why but they didnt give me the center name in which they file the petition, or recipt no., my questions are:
how long will it take to recieve the GC?
do you think the condition will improve for RNs in the future?
how can I find my case number without asking my sponser?

I have a similar question -- the USCIS site says document mailed on Dec 26th, but I am yet to receive it. I have not heard from the Lawyers either. USCIS mailed the receipt to the lawyers but EAD to our home, what's the deal with AP - home or lawyers?

I got a email notification from my attorney just now that my I-140 is approved with priority date ported from EB3. Not sure whether I should wait few weeks before initiating interfiling process.

Guys good news from my side. Just got most awaited Card production Ordered emails for my wife and my son. I have not received the email for myself though. When I checked the status on Case Status Online site, I found that 485 for all three of us have been approved.
My priority date was Oct 2004 at NSC. Came to US in Feb 2000, so almost 8.5 years of waiting is finally finally over. I hope that NSC picks up the pace and approve all the people who are current.
Trust me!! I am not going anywhere. I will enjoy my green but at the same time will always work relentlessly to get the immigration reforms. I also prey from God almighty that all my friends/family members stuck in EB2/EB3 will also get their GC ASAP.
Wish you all the best, even though I have crossed the fence towards the greener pasture, I am always there to lend you a hand and help you climb up and jump across the fence.

I'm sure the language should be worked out by USCIS as to whats best and whats not. Perhaps the "continous residency rule in US" need to be enacted. If a person leaves the country for a certain amount of time when on H1B may be > 6 months or 1year would loose his PD.
But atleast the proposal need to be before the rule makers
This would technically mean that anyone anywhere in the world now, who has ever been to the US on a H visa, can apply for a GC based on the first touchdown date.

The impact to companies like Infy etc is ~5-10MM
If someone look at their last year Balance sheet, They spent appx 16MM on visas, now assuming H1 cost came to ~10MM (these companies do lot of business elsewhere )
that would translate to ~ 2500 filings (including extn, new etc)
this additional $2000 would result in additional $5MM cost if they decide to continue filing 2500
This would not be too huge to make a dent on these companies. yes they may increase their billing to client by $2-5
So who is ultimately paying it is the American companies who use offshoring companies.

Rather than fighting among ourselves, we should channel our frustration/anger towards the fight for :
adding back unused visa numbers,
increase in GC numbers.
We can express our support to Senator Lofgren or whoever is leading this effort.
While we enjoy the interim benefits, our fight for permanent solution should not be obscured by it.
